Health.com asked nutritionists what they like to eat and created a list of foods that might surprise you! The article focuses on yummy foods that may have the reputation for being “off-limits” but really do fit into a health diet. The list of 12 includes some mealtime favorites like coffee, potatoes, wholemilk yogurt and even PASTA! It reminds us that sometimes we don’t realize that the foods we love are healthy for us too.
Renee Clerkin, registered dietitian and nutritionist from Chicago, IL says that she eats pasta a few times a week. Clerkin suggests one way to get the most out of your pasta meal is to balance the pasta with vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. She gives the tip to add an equal amount of vegetables and pasta into a dish when you are cooking.
Pasta also gets love from Rachel Beller, RD and author of Eat to Lose, Eat to Win! Beller recommends adding pasta as a side dish to fish at Italian restaurants and to ask for it to be cook al dente.
