Gnocchi are thick, small, oval-like shapes of dough typically made of potatoes, eggs, cheese and flour. The dough for gnocchi is rolled out into a tube, then cut into small pieces about half an inch in length. Sometimes, they are then pressed with a fork creating a small groove to hold sauce.
