Chef Rosario’s New Year Recipe Fusilli Pugliesi with Muddica
Anno Nuovo, Vita Nuova!
Anno Nuovo, Vita Nuova is what Italians say to each other (and themselves) when the New Year is approaching. Wishes, promises, goals, and resolutions for the new year are all included in this simple trope: New year, new life! One of most people’s common resolutions for the new year is to take care of their health: exercise more, walk in nature, travel when they get the chance, and, most importantly, eat well for a healthy lifestyle. For my family, this translates into eating pasta often, topped with our favorite sauces and succulent seasonal vegetables. We toast to a healthy and joyous 2023!
I am delighted to see that the major national food writers agree with me. For example, The New York Times has just published a list of the most popular recipes of 2022.
Out of more than 700 recipes published in 2022, we find PASTA featured at the top. In fact, of the top 20, more than a dozen include PASTA! Why? Pasta is both easy to prepare and affordable, and it brings joy to households of every culture and ethnicity. Most featured pasta recipes are Italian, but many are also inspired by the cuisines of Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.
The whole world loves pasta, and pasta loves the world back! I could not say goodbye to 2022 and wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR without reminding you about one of my favorite pasta dishes! Chef Rosario’s Fusilli Pugliesi with Muddica.
